Dixieland New Orleans Jazz fusions with Rock and Roll, on definitively Presley's finest movie and most likely, 50's rock music hottest soundtrack!!!
King Creole is the sixth album by Elvis Presley, issued on RCA Victor Records, LPM 1884, in September 1958, recorded in three days at Radio Recorders in Hollywood. It contains songs written and recorded expressly for the film, and peaked at #2 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart. It followed the film release by over ten weeks.
The songs "Hard Headed Woman" and "Don't Ask Me Why" appeared as two sides of a single on July 10, 1958, to coincide with the release of the film. On "Hard Headed Woman", guitarist Scotty Moore conjures up images of swinging Dixieland trumpet soloing fused with rockabilly lead work, delivering one of Presley's hardest rocking 50's numbers. Hard Headed Woman," the A-side, and "Don't Ask Me Why" both made the pop singles chart, peaking at #1 and #25 respectively. It became the firstrock and roll single to earn the RIAA designation of Gold Record.
With the Army waiting for him, this would be, despite greatest hits compilations, and a few singles still to be recorded in June '58 and released through '59, his last album until the great: Elvis is Back! in 1960.
The album was also released as two separate extended plays and that's the way we are sharing it with you.
